Decarbonizing Drinking Water Supply with Energy Recovery System

REDINN, is thrilled to announce the successful Kick-Off Meeting of the LIFE TURBINES project today. as part of the Consortium led by Global Omnium, REDINN is set to contribute significantly to the Decarbonization of the Drinking Water Supply System while providing accessible Energy and Water services to all Citizens.

Under the European Commission’s LIFE program (Project reference: 101113749 – LIFE22-CCM-ES-LIFE TURBINES), the objective of the project is to implement an energy recovery system by installing turbines. This innovative solution aims to harness the power of water flow within the drinking water supply system and convert it into usable energy, simultaneously optimizing the generation and distribution of clean and sustainable energy.

The project has a budget of €2,518,001.04, of which the European Union finances 60% through the LIFE program, as it is a project aligned with the European Union’s objective for 2050, the Green Deal, and the Union’s Energy Strategy

REDINN’s role in the LIFE TURBINES project is crucial. as the Coordinator for Communication Activities, Dissemination of Results, and market replicability, REDINN will facilitate the effective sharing of project Achievements and Outcomes with the Wider Audience. by disseminating valuable information, REDINN intends to inspire other Stakeholders and promote the adoption of similar Sustainable Energy Solutions across Europe and beyond.

The kick-Off Meeting marks a significant Milestone in the Project’s Timeline, bringing together experts, stakeholders, and consortium members to discuss the project’s objectives, work plan, and expected outcomes. This collaborative effort embodies the spirit of innovation and sustainable development, underlining the commitment to tackle climate change and create a greener future.

LIFE Turbines has a duration of 42 months and will address four practical cases in Spain and Italy, three of them will be in facilities of the network managed by Global Omnium in the Valencian Community and Catalonia, the fourth case study will be the drinking water network of Sansano, managed by Acquedotto del Fiora
